Building Information Modelling (BIM) is steadfastly becoming a global tool within the construction sector. The latest success using the method has come from Asia, where BIM has been utilised on a substaintial project.
Contractor CotecCons have used BIM to build a luxury residential complex in Ho Chi Minh City. The five and a half hectare development, named Masteri Thảo Điềnm spans a massive 43 floors and has a value of 3000 billion VND.
However, despite the scale of the project CotecCons are three months ahead of schedule, something they have attributed to the use of BIM during the process. The firm reported this project is the fastest they have ever delivered.
Thảo Điền Investment‘s Acting General Director Ms. Phan Thi Anh Tuyet spoke to Vietnamese publication DTI. She said: “We are confident the partners will complete the entire residential project with the spirit of urgency.
“The company will proceed with the transfer of the first apartment in quarter 03/2016.”
The project utilised BIM from the design stage. BIM is particularly useful during this process as it enables investors to monitor the project in real-time.
It is also capable of streamlining the construction process, which has happened on this project. The complex will take just 30 months to complete and will be finished three months ahead of schedule.
Chairman of CotecCons, Nguyen said: “We can confirm that the Masteri Thảo Điền project has the fastest progress of all projects ever implemented by CotecCons.”
Ho Chi Minh City has seen a growth in the number of projects, with the rate more than doubling compared to the same period in 2014. It follows a period of decline in the area in recent years. Utilising BIM could enable projects to be delivered more swiftly and easily in the region.
