BIM Today are proud sponsors of the Best Use of BIM category at the first-ever Building Innovation Awards, taking place at The Midland, Manchester, on 23 October

Building Information Modelling is much more than turning 2D drawings into sleek 3D models. In an industry under intense pressure to improve productivity and efficiency, it can deliver a step-change in design, construction and communication that results in better buildings and a stronger bottom line.

This award will recognise projects where the use of BIM has delivered tangible benefits to the planning, delivery and operation of buildings and infrastructure.

The nominees are:

Arcadis

As part of the South West Rail Resilience Programme, Arcadis produced a multi-discipline design for a complex seafront rail scheme. The scheme included interfaces between coastal resilience, cliff stabilisation and rockfall protection solutions. The team embraced BIM processes and principles to collaboratively develop the design. Visualisations and 4D simulations were developed to explain the design and construction decisions. The final video was made available for general release to the public and news outlets.

GRAHAM

GRAHAM are proud of their industry-leading approach when it comes to the implementation of BIM. As BIM with their process driver; it is at the centre of everything they do. Arising from implementation of their comprehensive BIM strategy – the combination of enterprise agreements with software suppliers, robust and accredited processes and an investment in upskilling all their employees has yielded significant benefits for the business and created value for their clients.

ilke Homes

ilke Homes specialises in the latest offsite techniques, working closely with partners including local authorities, housing associations and developers to deliver high-quality, sustainable new homes. We’re at the forefront of disruption in the housing market, with BIM affording us the capability and capacity to create high-quality, sustainable homes that the UK needs and deserves.

One Creative Environments

One is a consultancy that seeks innovative ways of extracting more value from the BIM process. An example of this is where One pioneered the “Virtual Mock-up” – a new concept for bridging the gap between construction and design. The Virtual Mock-up improves construction coordination earlier in the build process, that can be present within modern procurement methods. It also benefits buildability, health and safety, sequencing and quality, while reducing waste.

The winner will be announced at the Building Innovation Awards gala dinner at The Midland Hotel, Manchester, on 23 October.
