The UK BIM Alliance has announced a formal affiliation with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineer (CIBSE)
CIBSE is the standard setter and authority on building services engineering. It publishes internationally recognised guidance and codes, including its Digital Engineering Series and sets the criteria for best practice.
The Affiliate programme aims to bring together the professional institutions, trade associations and any other industry organisations to provide a consistent message and coordinated approach to digital transformation, working across silos to a shared objective.
Collaborative working environments
Dr Hywel Davies, technical director, CIBSE, said: “CIBSE have been working with the UK BIM Alliance for some time now, and we look forward to continuing that work under this formal affiliation.
“CIBSE has had a leading role to play in writing and updating the standards which support and define BIM and working with the UK BIM Alliance to adopt these standards for in the building services sector.”
Carl Collins, head of digital engineering, CIBSE, said: “We at CIBSE are pleased to formalise our relationship with the UK BIM Alliance via the affiliate programme.
“We look forward to bringing the Building Services engineers perspective to the Alliance and gaining better insight into the requirements of other disciplines to foster better, collaborative working environments.”
