A jointly hosted conference on Digitising Construction is to be hosted in London to discuss the practicalities of BIM adoption

Two events dedicated to digitising construction are to be brought together.

The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and BRE are to jointly host a Digitising Construction conference, which will give delegates access to two events: Digitally Built and BIM Prospects.

The two conferences will come under one roof to offer a full picture of digitising construction and how this can be applied to the sector. They will be hosted at Savoy Place, London on 20-21 April.

Digitally Built

The Digitally Built conference from the IET will look at the practicalities of adopting BIM. This will include costing, systems integration through the supply chain, and the role of robotics and virtual reality in the construction process. The conference will also examine the growing concerns surrounding cyber security as the sector becomes increasingly digital.

BIM Prospects

The BRE’s BIM Prospects conference will highlight the strides made since the implementation of the BIM Level 2 mandate last year. It will also discuss updates on PAS standards as well as introduce the Construction Products Association’s LEXiCON tool.

Speaking about the conference, President of the IET and Chief Scientist and Engineer at BRE Professor Jeremy Watson CBE said: “The Digitising Construction conference is a fantastic opportunity for all built environment specialists to get together, hear the latest updates around BIM Level 2 and work through new ideas and ways of working as the industry moves towards BIM Level 3.

“I am looking forward to seeing the industry come together via the BRE and IET conferences as we share the joint goal of a fully digitised construction industry.”
