The Department for Education has selected Interserve to design and build the new £4.1m Merritts Brook Primary School in Frankley, Birmingham

Interserve Construction will be responsible for the demolition of the existing building and its replacement on the same site. The Merritts Brook Primary School in Frankley will cater for children aged 3 to 11.

Merritts Brook Primary School is a one-form entry primary school situated in a social-economically deprived area. The existing buildings are in poor condition and in need of replacement.

Interserve Construction’s appointment as preferred bidder follows a successful competitive tender through the EFSA medium band framework, recognising the company’s experience and capabilities in delivering educational facilities in the UK.

Simon Butler, regional director at Interserve Construction, said: “Our appointment as preferred bidder by the Department for Education to build the new Merritts Brook Primary School further cements our position as one of the leading construction companies serving the UK education sector.

“The win is a real testament to the expertise and had work by our team in the West Midlands and we look forward to commencing on site in the autumn to deliver another great educational facility.”

The team are set to start on site in August 2020 with project being handed over in the summer 2021.

Projects in the West Midlands

The Merritts Brook Primary School contract win is the third this year in the West Midlands, following Interserve Construction’s recent success in being named preferred bidder two other EFSA funded schools on the EFSA 2017 Framework.

Interserve Construction was named preferred bidder for the new Saddleworth School in Oldham on 25 March.

The new school will be designed to accommodate the growing needs of both pupils and the local community and it will be tailored to meeting and exceeding the needs of modern school education provision.
