MJ Teale Plant Hire has added three new Hyundai HX140 L machines to its stable, investing around £250,000 in the new equipment

A plant hire firm has bought three new machines from manufacturer Hyundai with a value of around £250,000.

MJ Teale Plant Hire, which operates in Lancashire, employs over 40 people. It specialises in Recycled Aggregate Supply, Bulk Soil Disposal and Waste Management with sister company Blackpool Skip Hire.

New Hyundai machines

The purchase of the HX140 L is the latest for the firm, which has bought three Hyundai machines in the past 16 months. Alongside the HX140 L, the plant hire firm also added the 22-tonne R220-9A crawler excavator and the HL757-9A wheeled loader to its stable of machinery.

The three were bought via the Cumbrian-based Hyundai dealer Taylor & Braithwaite, with an estimated investment of around £250,000 in the Hyundai brand.

Managing director Mick Teale said: “We were looking for a new 14-tonne machine and Kevin Bell from T&B suggested we try the new Hyundai HX140 L.

“We had the model on demonstration and thought it was an excellent performer.  Not only is the machine fuel efficient it’s also extremely quiet.”

Safety was a selling point

Teale said it was the safety aspect of the camera system that really sold the equipment to his firm.

He explained: “What I was really impressed with was the AAVM camera system on the HX140 L where four cameras work together with the controller and produces a 360° image of the working range around the machine –  which is from a safety point of view is fantastic.

“It secures a field of vision in all directions with nine different viewing options which include a 3D bird’s eye view!

“This system, as well as safeguarding the operator and site personnel, also means that the resale value of the machine will be greater as safety becomes more and more important on a jobsite.”

The camera system utilises Intelligent Moving Object Detection (IMOD) to inform an operator when it is within a five metre radius of an object or person. It gives the operator the ability to use different views around the machine using a 20.3cm interactive touchscreen monitor in the cab of the plant vehicle.

MJ Teale’s trainee site manager and operator Josh Teale has used all the Hyundai machines. Speaking about them he said: “I’m impressed with the performance and reliability that all the Hyundai machines offer and the addition of the around view camera system takes safety to a new level.”
