IES – the world leading innovator in sustainable analytics for the built environment

IES are a leading global innovator in integrated performance based analysis, and we’re now home to the largest building analytics team in the world.

Home to the largest building analytics team in the world, IES has over 2000 years of collective experience, and 18 PhDs in the space. Over the last 20+ year’s we have built a solid reputation as the leading innovator in sustainable analytics for the built environment. Our Virtual Environment (VE) technology is an essential tool for top architects, engineers and contractors. Utilised globally, the energy and carbon reduction capability of our technology is proven. Today, our customers average 80,000 IESVE projects per year for large and medium sized buildings.

IES’ technology is supported by integrated consulting services and today its capabilities are expanding from use on individual buildings to helping create sustainable cities and communities. Our technology and consulting services uncover hidden cost, energy and carbon savings that support smarter energy-efficient choices across new building investments, building operation and refurbishment of existing buildings. Our dedicated R&D division (IES R&D) ensures our analytical tools and industry knowledge stays the most pioneering and innovative.

Building Analytics

Launched in April 2019, the ICL (Intelligent Communities Lifecycle) is a platform of interconnected decision support tools that facilitate the planning, design and operation of energy efficient and sustainable communities of any size and purpose, whether that be a company, campus, city or country. It is the most holistic tool for assessing any configuration of buildings throughout their lifecycle.

Utilising the latest digital technology to link IOT (Internet of Things) data, sensor readings, OpenData or any other data source into one interconnected platform, the ICL enables investigation of built environment performance at any level.

The technology will provide decision makers with the information required to form intelligent solutions, by identifying the most effective and resource efficient ways in which they can dramatically reduce the use of energy and fossil fuels within a community.

As one of the biggest contributors to climate change, the built environment has the potential to make the biggest impact in reducing the world’s carbon emissions. By launching the ICL, IES is making its technology available to anyone interested in energy efficiency and sustainability; from Architects, Engineers and Developers, to City Planners, ESCO’s, Sustainability, Energy and Facilities Managers, helping them see the true sustainability potential of their projects.

Our Mission

Better Buildings: Smarter Cities

We deliver technology that reduces the carbon emissions of buildings and cities worldwide. Our ultimate aim is to see that technology used by every building of every city to secure a healthy, sustainable and resource-efficient future.

As a company, we are profoundly aware of the need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and conserve the Earth’s natural resources. Everything we do is focused on delivering technology that reduces the impact buildings and cities have on the environment.

Because of this, the scope of our products and services covers new build developments, building operation, refurbishment of existing buildings, masterplanning, and integrated heat/cooling/power/renewable networks. It can be applied whether looking at a building in isolation, or as groups.

Innovation is at the heart of what we do. The IES Virtual Environment (IESVE), when it was first launched was pioneering, and today we continue to invest in research and development to ensure we stay at the cutting edge.

Our dedicated R&D Division has a reputation for creating strong R&D proposals and delivering innovative commercial projects. We are always looking for better ways to do things so that we can provide our customers with the most sophisticated, cost effective and usable software.
