{"id":100580,"date":"2021-10-19T12:04:39","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T11:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=100580"},"modified":"2021-10-19T12:04:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T11:04:39","slug":"custom-self-build-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/custom-self-build-project\/100580\/","title":{"rendered":"Actis presents STA award to passivhaus housebuilder"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insulation-actis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Actis<\/a> northern region sales director Jemma Harris has presented Passivhaus specialist Greencore Construction with a Custom and Self Build Project of the Year trophy at the Structural Timber Awards<\/h2>\n<p>Harris presented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencoreconstruction.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greencore Construction<\/a> with the Actis-sponsored Custom and Self Build Project of the Year trophy for its 25-home Springfield Meadows project in Oxfordshire at the 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.structuraltimberawards.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Structural Timber Awards<\/a> ceremony, held at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>Greencore\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/passivhaus-case-study\/51206\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Passivhaus-standard<\/a> houses go beyond being zero carbon and are actually climate-positive.<\/p>\n<p>The final two 3,000 sq ft four bedroom detached timber frame homes are on the market at \u00a31.3m each.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018The most sustainable development in the country\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Greencore believes it has created \u2018the most sustainable development in the country&#8217; thanks to combining several eco factors \u2013 using zero embodied carbon, net-zero<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/energy-saving-homes\/91049\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> energy requirements<\/a>, and elimination of gas utilities to create an all-electric development.<\/p>\n<p>The second phase of the project locks up more carbon than it emits and generates more energy than it uses \u2013 hence its claim that the development is \u2018climate positive\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Structural Timber Awards this year was a celebration of not only outstanding projects and inspiring individuals but the coming together of the industry after many months in isolation.<\/p>\n<p>The awards were hosted by Mark Durden-Smith, who ensured that the celebrations were not only inspirational but also entertaining.
