to become the Phase 2a Design and Delivery Partner (DDP) for the next phase to Crewe<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/hs2-phase-2a\/85772\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a3500m Phase 2a<\/a> Design and Delivery Partner contract will see the successful bidder partner with HS2 to lead the design and delivery of the 36-mile Phase 2a route.<\/p>\n<p>The role will include management and co-ordination of key contracts for delivering the railway\u2019s detailed design and construction, which includes 2 tunnels, 17 viaducts, 65 bridges, and track along the route.<\/p>\n<h3>The shortlisted bidders are:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>2 Connect JV \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/aecom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AECOM Limited<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.costain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Costain Integrated Services Limited<\/a><\/li>\n<li>AMS JV \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atkinsglobal.com\/homepage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atkins Limited<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macegroup.com\/sectors-and-services\/consult\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mace Consult Limited<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.systra.co.uk\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SYSTRA Limited<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacobs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacobs UK Limited<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u2018An essential link between the West Midlands and northern England\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>HS2 Ltd procurement and supply chain director, Andrew Cubitt, said: \u201cThe Phase 2a section of HS2 is a major investment in the region\u2019s future low carbon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/transport-digital-twins\/98931\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transport infrastructure<\/a>, that will provide an essential link between the West Midlands and northern England.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis latest procurement will facilitate the benefits HS2 is set to bring to the region, before any trains have even started running, helping the UK to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/construction-collaboration\/100303\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">build back better<\/a> from the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Building on the work done in Phase One, the delivery of Phase 2a will support opportunities for businesses and employment.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 Ltd recently raised to 6,500 the number of jobs supported by delivery of this latest section of the network, bringing the overall total across the project to more than 20,000 roles.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 Ltd expects to announce the winning bidder in
