Planning permission has been granted for the Chartist Garden Village housing development in Pontllanfraith, bringing affordable and sustainable housing to the area<\/h2>\n

The Chartist Garden Village is a collaboration between Caerphilly County Borough Council<\/a> and the Pobl Group<\/a>, which will provide affordable housing<\/a> on the former Pontllanfraith House council offices site.<\/p>\n

The village will compromise up to 125 homes, 83 of which will be affordable; including opportunities for low-cost homeownership and social rent.<\/p>\n

The Pontllanfraith housing development is based upon the \u2018garden village<\/a>\u2019 concept \u2013 with residential homes designed to enhance space, and is built around a landscape of trees, grass verges, and open green spaces.<\/p>\n

\u2018Bringing much-needed homes to a prime location\u2019<\/h3>\n

Councillor Lisa Phipps, the council\u2019s cabinet member for housing, said: \u201cThere is an increasing need for affordable housing in the county borough and the council is committed to working to meet this demand.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis flagship development will bring much needed, high-quality homes to a prime location; offering a range of housing options for local people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Enhancing green infrastructure\u2019<\/h3>\n

Ellis Cunliffe, project manager at Pobl Group, added: \u201cWe are delighted to have received planning permission and are proud to collaborate with Caerphilly Council on this flagship scheme.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur vision is to create a modern garden village with a real sense of place and community, using good design principles and by enhancing the green infrastructure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Pobl, placemaking is at the heart of what we do, and these principles will be reflected in Chartist Garden Village.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scheme will offer a blend of housing options including affordable homes, social rent and shared ownership homes, as well as outright sale homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have also incorporated sustainable urban drainage features into the design, increasing the amount of green spaces and naturalistic play areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
