Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver a sustainable office building, as part of the \u00a3350m Talbot Gateway scheme<\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The BREEAM \u2018Excellent\u2019 office building was designed by architects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makearchitects.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Make<\/a>, to be an ultra-low energy development which promotes sustainable development and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">An inclusive approach to sustainability was taken to make sure the building will be as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/energy-modular-buildings\/55889\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">energy-efficient<\/a> as possible, with high levels of insulation and air source heat pumps to provide low-carbon heating and cooling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Demand-driven ventilation will improve indoor air quality while allowing energy savings during periods of reduced occupancy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">During the scheme\u2019s launch, partners completed early-stage whole life and upfront embodied carbon assessments, to eliminate inefficiencies where possible and reduce the building\u2019s whole<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/sfs-carbon-products\/100863\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> carbon footprint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <span style=\"font-weight: bold !msorm;\"><span style=\"mso-prop-change: Sales 20211110T1248;\">sustainable office building<\/span><\/span><b> <\/b>aims to reduce its upfront embodied carbon intensity to 800 kgCO2e\/m2, compared with 1100kgCO2e\/m2 for typical office development.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2018Building back
