The EcoWorld London<\/a> and Poplar HARCA<\/a> joint venture, The Aberfeldy New Village LLP, has submitted plans for a new masterplan that will be the next stage of its regeneration project in Aberfeldy, East London<\/h2>\n

Alongside much needed new housing, the Aberfeldy masterplan will deliver an enhanced local high street<\/a>, with up to 25,500 sq ft of new retail space and up to 29,100 sq ft of new offices.<\/p>\n

There will be 40,440 sq ft of new public realm, including a public park, Highland Park, of up to 30,300 sq ft and a new town square at the end of Aberfeldy Street.<\/p>\n

Connections will be created across the A12 to improve links to Poplar and Newham.<\/p>\n

The workspace area, Enterprise Yard, will create employment opportunities and space for creative industries.<\/p>\n

The Aberfeldy masterplan is being designed by architects, Levitt Bernstein<\/a>, working alongside a design team comprising of Morris+Company<\/a>, LDA Design<\/a> and ZCD Architects<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The local community have been extensively involved in the development of the plans with 90% of respondents saying they supported the details of the masterplan in response to the latest round of consultation.<\/p>\n

This follows an estate regeneration ballot<\/a> last year, where 93% of residents voted to support regeneration in a 91% turnout.<\/p>\n

Heng Leong Cheong, chief executive at EcoWorld London, said: \u201cWe are proud of the positive change we have already delivered at Aberfeldy Village and this new masterplan will build on the success of our decade-long partnership with Poplar Harca.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very grateful to have received such strong support from the community for our plans to deliver new homes, community facilities, a revitalised commercial centre and green spaces in Poplar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward working together with them, Poplar Harca, LB Tower Hamlets, the GLA and TfL to make this exciting and ambitious masterplan<\/a> a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poplar HARCA chief executive, Steve Stride, commented: \u201cThis application is a once in a generation opportunity to deliver the homes, workspaces and community facilities that this area of Poplar so desperately needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Aberfeldy LLP is committed to working with residents to deliver real change that makes Tower Hamlets a better place to live. 50% of the new homes to be built in the first phase as part of the transformation of Aberfeldy Street will be affordable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to welcome the first residents into their new homes in 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jo McCafferty, director at Levitt Bernstein, added: \u201cWe are delighted to have led the design of the new masterplan with Morris+Company, LDA and ZCD Architects in a genuinely creative and collaborative community-led process<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cCollectively, we have worked together with such an inspiring group of local people of all ages \u2013 from two local schools, businesses, local homes and the Residents\u2019 Steering Group to create an ambitious masterplan which unlocks the historic severance of this part of East Poplar, and creates a new neighbourhood of character, variety and identity, woven from its diverse community and rich past.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Aberfeldy masterplan is an extension of the previously approved Aberfeldy Village Masterplan, which received outline planning consent in 2012. Phases 1, 2 and 3a have been completed on site and are now occupied.<\/p>\n
