Wates<\/a> has appointed Bekir Andrews, former sustainability boss at Balfour Beatty, as its new environmental sustainability director<\/h2>\n

This is a new role within Wates\u2019\u00a0growing environment team. Reporting to\u00a0John Dunne, group\u00a0safety,\u00a0health, environment,\u00a0quality\u00a0and sustainability\u00a0director,\u00a0Bekir Andrews will\u00a0lead on Wates\u2019 efforts to decarbonise its operations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He will also focus on establishing Wates as the low carbon solution provider of choice within the built environment.<\/p>\n

While at Balfour Beatty,\u00a0Andrews was instrumental in setting the ESG KPIs with Lloyds Bank for the recent \u00a3375m revolving credit facility.<\/p>\n

He also led on\u00a0various\u00a0innovation projects, such as the UK’s first successful engine retrofit to be approved by the Energy Saving Trust,\u00a0working in partnership with\u00a0Eminox, HS2, and the Centre for Low Emission Construction.<\/p>\n

Bekir Andrews is an active member of both the Climate Change Steering Group and Fellows Group for the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), as well as sitting on the Sustainability Stakeholder Panel for Saint-Gobain.<\/p>\n
