UK leading warranty and insurance provider NHBC<\/a> has launched their new 2022 technical standards edition, effective for every new home<\/a> covered by an NHBC warranty, where foundations are begun on or after 1 January 2022<\/h2>\n

NHBC\u2019s dedicated standards team have spent the past year reviewing technical content for the new edition, and are working with stakeholders from across the industry to ensure that they remain accurate and relevant.<\/p>\n

Updates to the new version include chapter 3.1 \u2018Concrete and its reinforcement\u2019, reflecting industry guidance on concrete mix proportions by volume, minimum specifications for general purpose concrete mixes, and aggressive chemical environment for concrete, alongside a site and design guide for concrete elements in the ground.<\/p>\n

There are also updates to chapters 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3: \u2018Walls – external masonry, timber frame and internal\u2019, to reflect requirement changes and a minor technical amend to 9.2 and 9.3 \u2013 \u2018Floor, ceiling and wall finishes\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mark Russell, NHBC\u2019s standards and policy manager, said: \u201cWe hope that the industry will find our new standards a useful reference point as we all strive to deliver safe, high-quality new homes<\/a> for the generations of people that will live in them.<\/p>\n
