data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Working 78 hours from Friday night until Tuesday morning, construction teams demolished the 1884 Victorian masonry structure, and replaced it with a 660ton twin-track concrete box structure.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The bridge is part of supporting work ahead of the dualling of the A9 between Tomatin and Moy, and has been the culmination of years of meticulous planning and preparation with Network Rail, its contractor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bamnuttall.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BAM Nuttall<\/a>, Atkins Mouchel joint venture and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.gov.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transport Scotland<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The construction team used a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) system to carry the structure from the site compound, where it was constructed offline over a 10-week period, before manoeuvring the massive 660-ton structure several hundred meters along the B1954 and sliding it to its final position.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two 750-ton cranes then lifted seven concrete wingwalls, which were also constructed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/quality-site-inspections\/96517\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on site<\/a>, into position.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The new bridge will strengthen, safeguard, and futureproof the route for the long-term including dealing with the weight and volume of traffic which passes over it,\u00a0and accommodating any future double-tracking of the line should that be proposed in the future.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Safeguarding and improving connectivity on Scotland\u2019s Highland Mainline\u2019<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Minister for transport, Mr Graeme Dey, commented:\u00a0\u201cThe success of the\u00a0Lynebeg\u00a0rail bridge installation marks a significant milestone for the A9 Dualling:\u00a0Tomatin\u00a0to Moy project, as the first tangible improvement to the transport infrastructure as part of the project\u2019s advance works.<\/span><span clock\u2019<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Billy McKay, Network Rail\u2019s programme manager for the\u00a0Lynebeg\u00a0bridge replacement works, said: \u201cWe are delighted that the work to replace the bridge at\u00a0Lynebeg\u00a0was completed successfully and the railway re-opened to traffic as planned \u2013 despite terrible weather conditions and the impact of Storm complex due to requirement to remove the existing railway infrastructure including cabling, track and the embankment, before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/shift-to-net-zero-concrete\/100286\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">concrete bridge<\/a> could be pushed into its final position.\u00a0 And all against the clock due to the need to reinstate and re-open the line to traffic at the end of the possession.<\/span><span team is delighted to have played a part in supporting the future dualling of the A9\u201c.<\/span><span
