BAM Construction<\/a> celebrates success at the 2021 Constructing Excellence Awards, after two landmark projects delivered by its North East team were recognised<\/h2>\n

On what proved to be a very successful night for BAM construction, the Sir William Henry Bragg<\/a> building at the University of Leeds was named \u2018Building Project of the Year\u2019, whilst the Nightingale Hospital<\/a> Yorkshire & Humber secured the award for Integration and Collaborative Working, and the \u2018Best of the Best\u2019 award.<\/p>\n

Both projects were also highly commended or finalists in several other categories.<\/p>\n

The Sir William Henry Bragg building<\/h3>\n

The \u00a396m Sir William Henry Bragg building was completed in March 2021, and is the largest single construction project that the University of Leeds has undertaken since the 1960s.<\/p>\n

The building provides engineering and physical sciences students and staff with a range of specialised laboratory facilities and teaching spaces to support cutting-edge research and collaboration.<\/p>\n

The Nightingale Hospital<\/h3>\n

The 500-bed temporary Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire & Humber was officially opened in April 2020 by the late Captain Sir Tom Moore.<\/p>\n

It was built through the collaboration of BAM\u2019s construction, design, engineering, plant and facilities management businesses, along with the British Army, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, NG Bailey, Silcock Leedham, Roses Medical, Brebur and Harrogate Conference Centre.<\/p>\n

John Phillips, regional director for BAM Construction North East, commented: \u201cThe success of these projects was built on a real team effort and these awards are fitting recognition of the commitment and hard work shown by the whole BAM team in maintaining our already high standards on two very high profile and challenging projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very proud of the way our region overcame immense challenges to complete these projects despite the tough Covid-19 pandemic<\/a> restrictions, and how they demonstrated the value of teams and colleagues in BAM coming together to support each other, and work together to achieve our shared goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
