Kier has re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging its commitment to the Armed Forces community<\/h2>\n

On Friday 3rd<\/sup> December 2021, Andrew Davies the chief executive at Kier<\/a>, and members of the company\u2019s Armed Forces employee network were joined by Brigadier Eldon Millar from the British Army at Bassingbourn Barracks in Royston, Cambridgeshire to sign the Armed Forces Covenant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What are the new pledges?<\/h3>\n

Kier promises to support employees who are members of the Reserve Forces <\/a>by granting additional ten days paid leave for Reserve Forces training and supporting any mobilisations and deployment.<\/p>\n

In addition, the property group will offer job and training opportunities<\/a>\u00a0by hosting careers days, virtual events, and employability workshops to people with a connection to the Army.<\/p>\n

How does Kier support the Armed Forces community?<\/h3>\n

Kier has a longstanding history of providing support to the Armed Forces community<\/a> and was one of the first construction companies to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013.<\/p>\n

This includes offering meaningful and sustainable employment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and Buildforce, current employees at Kier hold a variety of positions from gritter drivers to health and safety managers, IT security specialists and managing directors.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, The Armed Forces employee network provides a space where people can come together, talk, and support one another.<\/p>\n

Andrew Davies said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pleased to reconfirm our long-standing commitment to the Armed Forces and to supporting veterans, reservists and those with serving family members in the civilian workplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cArmed Forces personnel bring a fantastic set of transferable skills to our industry, the pledges we\u2019ve committed to today will mean Kier continues to be a supportive workplace for those with a connection to the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an inclusive company, it\u2019s important everyone feels comfortable and can fulfil their potential and re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant is an important part of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brigadier Eldon\u00a0Millar\u00a0added:<\/p>\n

\u201cKier has been an ardent supporter of the Armed Forces community for many years and I am delighted that this is set to continue following its resigning of the Armed Forces Covenant.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith 12 new pledges, including Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers being offered additional leave to complete their training, it\u2019s clear Kier understands and is committed to supporting the talent and skills that so many of our Armed Forces personnel possess.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrganisations like Kier are paving the way for the Armed Forces community, providing meaningful employment, inclusive policies and a progressive culture that allows them to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in 2020, Kier was re-awarded Gold by the Defence Employer Recognition (ERS) scheme for its work with the Armed Forces community.<\/p>\n
