{"id":103185,"date":"2022-01-04T12:54:14","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T12:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=103185"},"modified":"2022-01-04T12:54:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-04T12:54:14","slug":"television-centre-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/television-centre-development\/103185\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier awarded affordable housing Television Centre development contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanhopeplc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stanhope<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mitsuifudosan.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitsui Fudosan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aimco.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AIMCo<\/a> have announced that they have awarded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a> the contract for the construction of 142 new affordable homes for Peabody in Macfarlane Place at Television Centre, London<\/h2>\n<p>The buildings form part of the wider Television Centre development, which will eventually have 950 homes in total.<\/p>\n<p>Stanhope is the development manager for Television Centre and Cantillon was the demolition contractor for the multi-storey car park.<\/p>\n<p>The new buildings have been designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maccreanorlavington.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maccreanor Lavington Architects<\/a>, and will replace the former BBC multi-storey car park opposite Westfield. The new buildings will provide 71 London Affordable Rent, 34 London Living Rent and 37 homes for shared ownership.<\/p>\n<p>The buildings will provide a range of one-to-three-bedroom apartments, with new public realm and retail space retained by the JV fronting Wood Lane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.peabody.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peabody<\/a> will be responsible for managing the homes when completed.\u00a0 The joint venture is working closely with Transport for London, who own the adjacent arches below the elevated Hammersmith and City line, to help improve the wider area for the local community.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Much needed affordable homes for residents\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Jonathan Trout, property and commercial director at Stanhope said: \u201cConstruction of 142 affordable homes, and the ongoing construction of a new office building at 1 Wood Crescent, Television Centre, shows the healthy state of the property market in White City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to working with Kier and delivering much needed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/housing-crisis\/102852\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordable homes<\/a> for residents in Hammersmith &amp;
