Wates\u2019 aim is to build net zero homes<\/a>, generate net zero carbon operationally and halve energy consumption by 2025.<\/p>\n

Net zero ambitions<\/h3>\n

The company has also pledged to achieve zero waste and ensure that the natural world is protected in all its projects. Therefore, it is important that suitable materials, products, and processes are used to make net zero homes possible.<\/p>\n

For example, materials with a low carbon content or those derived from natural resources may be used. In terms of suppliers, Wates is looking for those who can help implement Modern Methods of Construction. The products used must also boast significant biodiversity net gains<\/a>, optimise building efficiency, aid design of net zero homes and save water.<\/p>\n

Register interest<\/h3>\n

Are you a business keen to get involved? Interested businesses are encouraged to visit www.wates.co.uk\/win-portal<\/a> and complete an application form.<\/p>\n

Once screened by Wates\u2019 technical advisory panel of experts, successful candidates will be piloted on Wates sites. They will also be registered on the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) portal, a new online hub for suppliers of environmental technologies and services.<\/p>\n

\u2018There must be many businesses out there who would like to work with Wates, and we are keen to find them too.\u2019<\/h3>\n

Dr Zainab Dangana, head of sustainable technology for Wates Group, added:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur search for Innovation Partners and the concept behind the WIN portal is to boost the industry\u2019s move to zero carbon and support emerging green technologies. This campaign is a continuation of our search for new suppliers with a particular focus on the design and construction of low to high-rise residential developments. There must be many businesses out there who would like to work with Wates, and we are keen to find them too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shami Kaler, technical director for Wates Residential, commented:<\/p>\n

\u201cWates Residential is one of the UK\u2019s leading developers, working with local authorities and registered providers across the South of England, London and Wales. We already use multiple technologies on site to improve environmental operations, build with Modern Methods of Construction and to Passivhaus standards, but we want to find new ways to build more sustainable homes to help us and our partners achieve our environmental ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Already, several WIN technologies have been implemented across the Group to help Wates meet its net zero ambitions. Propelair<\/a>, for example, is an Innovation Partner that supplies water saving toilets. These toilets have been installed at the Leatherhead headquarters with a promise to save carbon and money and conserve water by up to 87%.<\/p>\n
