It is critical that businesses are aware of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/sme-developers-housing\/102489\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">what could go wrong<\/a> \u2013 as well as the opportunities at hand and so seeking impartial advice is generally the best route.<\/p>\n<p>The new business scheme presents a unique opportunity for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/hs2-safety-doors\/102609\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SMEs<\/a> to work with experts from BRE. Confidential, independent and technical advice will be provided, drawing on BRE\u2019s 100-year track-record of driving innovation and improving safety in construction.<\/p>\n<h3>What does the 9 hour support session include?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Expert assessment of where the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/collaboration-product-of-the-year\/101980\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">product offering<\/a> sits in the marketplace<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/construction-product\/102293\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">business development<\/a> roadmap illustrating what needs to be addressed before launch<\/li>\n<li>Introductions to relevant people, networks and organisations<\/li>\n<li>Support from the I-Construct network to launch the offering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Which businesses are suitable for the scheme?<\/h3>\n<p>The I-Construct and BRE new business scheme is suitable for for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-startups\/102420\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">start-ups<\/a> in their first year of operation, and established SMEs with new-to-market products at pre-launch or recently launched stage, working in the construction and built environment marketplace. Applications will be considered from businesses that are bringing existing products and services to new markets.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme is free of charge as I-Construct is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Empowering British SMEs\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Dr Ed Suttie, BRE strategic advisory said the following on the new business scheme:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur market readiness support programme offers a one-off business development boost for 20 enterprising businesses with new to market products or services. We\u2019re delighted to be empowering British SMEs in the construction sector and to help them bring exciting innovations and services to the industry through our dedicated support programme that is only available via I-Construct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anita Thornberry, executive director of the Haven Gateway Partnership said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith so much investment planned in construction, there are major opportunities for SMEs to use innovation and new technologies to compete.
