Reclaimed fa\u00e7ade bricks are being used to create a bespoke seating area outside of the development and highlight the history of the site.<\/p>\n<h3>Located close to university departments<\/h3>\n<p>The new residency is located close to departments of Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester School of Art, Manchester Business School and the University of Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/nottingham-student-accommodation-scheme\/102678\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accommodation block<\/a> has been constructed\u00a0in line with two key ambitions of Manchester City Council.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, to prioritise purpose-built student accommodation to protect family homes from conversion to multiple occupation properties<\/li>\n<li>Second, to achieve a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/technology-collaboration\/104326\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">zero-carbon<\/a> target for Manchester by establishing student accommodation close to educational establishments to reduce travel emissions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following the topping out ceremony, it is predicted that the building will be completed for the start of the 2022 academic year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/carsonandpartners.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carson &amp; Partners,<\/a>\u00a0designer of the development, have assured that the building will enhance and complement the local area. It will also directly benefit the surrounding community, with <a href=\"https:\/\/alumnogroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alumno<\/a> partnering charity One Manchester to secure a \u00a350,000 fund for local community projects.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;The topping out stage&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWe are also working to provide pioneering navigation aids using GPS wayfinding technology to help visually impaired students, and will install CCTV surveillance equipment to ensure the site is safe and secure, and deter anti-social behaviour,\u201d explained Alumno managing director David Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted we have reached this landmark stage on schedule, and as usual with our student residences, look forward to commissioning new public art to further enhance the public space around the building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the project, Iain Carson from Carson &amp;
