{"id":106070,"date":"2022-02-18T10:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-18T10:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=106070"},"modified":"2022-06-23T10:49:25","modified_gmt":"2022-06-23T09:49:25","slug":"energy-efficiency-contractors-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/energy-efficiency-contractors-framework\/106070\/","title":{"rendered":"Scotland Excel launch \u00a3800m energy efficiency contractors framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/home.scotland-excel.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scotland Excel<\/a> has announced the 37 businesses who have secured a place on their national energy efficiency contractors framework, which aims to support Scotland\u2019s councils in achieving net zero<\/h2>\n<p>The energy efficiency contractors framework will help to cut <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/decarbonising-the-construction-sector\/103385\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carbon emissions<\/a>, tackle fuel poverty, and create warmer homes.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 46 UK-based suppliers have joined the framework, who each have the opportunity to secure a share of the business \u2013 expected to be worth \u00a3800m over four years.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Underpin the Scottish Government\u2019s drive for Net Zero by 2045\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Councillor John Shaw, convener of Scotland Excel, said: \u201cI welcome the launch of this contract that will give councils and housing associations a one-stop-shop to a range of innovative energy efficiency measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith sustainability at its core, it will underpin the Scottish Government\u2019s drive for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/the-construction-industry\/103833\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Net Zero by 2045<\/a> by supporting councils and housing associations in their efforts to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbons emissions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will also bring significant opportunities for the businesses that have secured a place on the framework, which includes 37 Scottish suppliers \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/sme-developers-housing\/102489\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">33 of which are SMEs<\/a>. I\u2019m also pleased that we have improved and enhanced the framework from its first generation to support a rapidly growing market \u2013 and this includes introducing a new professional services lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The contractor\u2019s framework will allow contractors to deliver a range of measures including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wall, floor, and loft insulation<\/li>\n<li>Windows and doors replacement and retrofit<\/li>\n<li>Roof insulation, repair, and replacement<\/li>\n<li>Electric heating<\/li>\n<li>Air source and ground source heat pumps<\/li>\n<li>Renewables and energy storage solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Scotland Excel, working alongside ESP, has the framework to ensure it supports the national drive to improve skills and works within the industry.<\/p>\n<p>This collaboration will help bridge gaps and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/contingency-planning\/103636\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ensure the supply chain is equipped<\/a> to deal with demand in the coming years.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018The catalyst to driving net-zero targets\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>John Renwick, construction sector manager at ESP, said: \u201cESP welcomes the launch of Scotland Excel\u2019s new energy efficiency contractor\u2019s framework.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth agencies have collaborated over the last year to implement the new Installer Skills Matrix that has been incorporated into the updated BSI PAS 2030 (2019) standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe matrix will help the supply chain understand the training and qualifications they need to demonstrate their competency for the energy efficiency and microgeneration sector in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a positive step for both agencies &#8211; recognising skills as the catalyst to driving net zero targets.
