{"id":106944,"date":"2022-03-04T13:34:43","date_gmt":"2022-03-04T13:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=106944"},"modified":"2022-03-04T13:34:43","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T13:34:43","slug":"ukraine-conflict-building-material-shortages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/ukraine-conflict-building-material-shortages\/106944\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine conflict: Building material shortages to \u2018wreak havoc\u2019 on supply chains"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Reports indicate that the Ukraine conflict will cause critical building material shortages and price rises that will have a detrimental knock-on effect on the global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-supply-chains-in-2022\/103628\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supply chain<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Global supply chains have already fallen significantly for the 12 months prior to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/plant-equipment-supplies-news\/russia-ukraine-costs-uk-construction-projects\/106901\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ukraine conflict<\/a>, raising concerns over prolonged building material shortages and price rises, according to a new report published today.<\/p>\n<h3>Oil and gas supply constraints continue<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A further reduction in supply chain resilience score to 44.9 in Q4 2021.<\/li>\n<li>ASCR Index now only marginally above the 40% high-risk threshold.<\/li>\n<li>Building <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/answer-to-material-shortages\/95743\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">material shortages<\/a> for key items will continue to impact downstream supply chains.<\/li>\n<li>Increases in commodity prices continue and significant price volatility expected as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.<\/li>\n<li>Medium-term oil and gas supply constraints continue to impact a range of sectors, and in the current geopolitical climate may fluctuate wildly.<\/li>\n<li>The semi-conductor shortage continues to have a major impact, with a knock-on impact on the transition to green energy as the electric car and renewable energy storage industries compete for a limited supply of lithium as a critical component.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Shortage of raw materials to hamper global trade<\/h3>\n<p>The shortage of raw building materials such as tin &#8211;
