{"id":107190,"date":"2022-03-08T13:58:44","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T13:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=107190"},"modified":"2022-03-09T09:57:16","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T09:57:16","slug":"kier-manchester-airports-group-capital-works-framework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-manchester-airports-group-capital-works-framework\/107190\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier appointed to Manchester Airports Group Capital Works framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier Construction<\/a> has been appointed to all 12 Lots of the \u00a3700m Manchester Airports Group\u00a0Capital Works framework, which will run for five years with the option to extend by an additional three years<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magairports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manchester Airports Group <\/a>Capital Works framework is split into three disciplines: Civil Construction Works, New Build and Fit Out Construction Works, and Refurbishment Works.<\/p>\n<p>The three disciplines from the framework are then divided into 12 Lots, based on value bands and location.<\/p>\n<p>The Capital Works framework is focused on delivering sustainable growth across MAG, whilst also balancing the needs of its customers, passengers, employees, and communities.<\/p>\n<p>This agreement is one of a number that have been recently awarded by MAG, which owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, to support its programme of infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<p>All three MAG airports will have access to Kier\u2019s framework over the initial period.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Providing a unique range of skills and expertise to this framework\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Liam Cummins, group managing director at Kier Construction, said: \u201cWe look forward to being part of this framework, which, along with other aviation projects coming to market, will undoubtedly be critical in helping the aviation industry and the UK\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/offsite-construction-upskilling\/100861\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post-covid recovery.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAviation continues to be a key area of focus for us and being appointed to all Lots on the MAG framework will facilitate our growth in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCollaborative working between our Infrastructure and Construction business streams allows us to provide a unique range of skills and expertise to this framework, including our vast experience of working in the sector and in highly regulated areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>A pathway to sustainable airport growth<\/h3>\n<p>Rob Stewart, group capital delivery director, MAG said: \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to have appointed Kier as one of our capital works framework partners across the Group over the next five years, because they will be key to successful project delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an ambitious pipeline of projects aimed at ensuring our airports continue to operate efficiently and safely for all of our passengers, colleagues and business partners, as well as helping our business to deliver on its commitment to sustainable growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kier has previously delivered a number of projects for clients in the aviation sector.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the \u00a3225m Luton DART guided mass passenger transit system which Kier is delivering in joint venture with VolkerFitzpatrick for London Luton Airport Ltd (LLAL).<\/p>\n<p>When completed, it will link Luton Airport Parkway and the Luton Airport terminal.
