past chemical industry senior manufacturing executive, has been appointed as the independent chair of the skills-based board of non-executive directors.<\/p>\n<p>Topliffe brings an understanding of major hazard safety management from 37 years in chemical manufacturing, where he chaired the Chemical Industries Association\u2019s Responsible Care Strategy Group for 12 years as a non-executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Under his leadership, a strong focus was placed on Process Safety Leadership and a \u2018Responsible Care Verification\u2019 scheme was devised and implemented across the chemicals sector.<\/p>\n<p>David also serves as a non-executive director for an NHS hospital.<\/p>\n<h3>The board comprises five non-executive board directors<\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In addition to David, the board comprises five non-executive board directors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Sarah Atkins &#8211; insight led transformation not-for-profit industry standards body;<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ian Bretman &#8211; extensive experience with voluntary standards initiatives, including Fairtrade;<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Catherine Fyfe &#8211; deputy chair of the CPA\u2019s Marketing Integrity Group; Divisional marketing director of Polypipe;<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Tom Loder Multiplex as head of strategy; landscape architect<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">and Susanne Pugsley &#8211;
