href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/congleton-link-road-opening\/90560\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a390m Congleton link road<\/a> project included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the creation of a new 5.5km single carriageway with eight new roundabout junctions;<\/li>\n<li>excavation and relocation of more than 850,000 tonnes of earthworks;<\/li>\n<li>the laying of more than 100,000m2 of road and footpath asphalt;<\/li>\n<li>erection of more than 25,000m of fencing;<\/li>\n<li>installation of more than 25,000m of new drains;<\/li>\n<li>and extensive landscaping \u2013 including the planned planting of 15,000 trees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Awarded the \u2018large project of the year\u2019<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/graham-collaborative-construction-framework\/109276\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Graham, working in collaboration<\/a> with Cheshire East Council and Ringway Jacobs\u2019, delivered the project on budget whilst working against a number of challenges including wet weather and Covid pandemic disruption.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As a result, the team were awarded the \u2018large project of the year\u2019 accolade at both the Institute of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/graham-chelmsford-highway-scheme\/108966\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Highways<\/a> Engineers\u2019 (Mercia Branch) and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation 2022 awards ceremonies.<\/p>\n<h3>First-class project within budget<\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Alastair Lewis, contracts director for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/graham-awarded-congleton-link-road\/43586\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Graham<\/a>, said: &#8220;These latest awards are fantastic and well-deserved recognition for the whole team for their hard work and dedication to delivering a first-class project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">&#8220;Despite the challenge created by the Covid pandemic, we were able to deliver a complex scheme within budget \u2013 and as close to the original schedule as possible \u2013while also helping support many local community projects in the local area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Cheshire East Council\u2019s biggest infrastructure scheme to date<\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Councillor Craig Browne, chair of Cheshire East Council\u2019s highways and transport committee, said: &#8220;These awards are entirely well-deserved accolades for the whole team for their commitment, passion and dedication to delivering the council\u2019s biggest infrastructure scheme to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">&#8220;This project not only delivers improved connectivity \u2013 between Macclesfield, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/congleton-link-road\/82532\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Congleton<\/a>, the surrounding area and the M6 \u2013 but has also helped reduce congestion and benefited air quality in Congleton town centre, whilst releasing 20 hectares of new employment land with the potential to create 3,000 jobs by 2035.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;The scheme is a cornerstone of Cheshire East Council\u2019s Local Plan vision&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p
