A new NHS 24<\/a> call centre in Scotland is benefitting from improved energy efficiency after receiving heat recovery ventilator units from specialists S&P<\/a><\/h2>\n

The new premises is now home to around 140 staff including call handlers, nurses, and psychological mental health practitioners. Following the redesign of urgent care, it was necessary that the new facility be created to help meet the NHS demand.<\/p>\n

Funded by the Scottish Government, NHS 24 occupies more than 10,000 sq ft of space in the third house at Caledonian House, Dundee. It is hoped that eventually up to 300 staff be based at NHS 24.<\/p>\n

S&P UK was appointed to supply two high-efficient heat recovery ventilator<\/a> units \u2013 the RHE 3500 and RHE 2500. The units were both flat-packed and delivered to aid assembly and installation.<\/p>\n

The heat recovery ventilator units reduce bills for a typical office by more than 38%<\/h3>\n

The heat recovery ventilator units benefit from energy efficiency of up to 88%. This means that they can reduce carbon footprint and heating bills which is becoming increasingly important amid rising energy costs that are affecting all organisations and building owners.<\/p>\n

According to the Carbon Trust, heat recovery systems which operate at 70% efficiency can reduce the heating bills for a typical commercial office by up to 38% and so the S&P units are looking extremely promising.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone including the NHS is feeling the pinch from rising energy bills after wholesale gas and electricity prices doubled over the past year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know NHS Trusts already spend tens of millions of pounds each year on energy costs, which is why we were pleased to provide our high energy-efficient RHE heat recovery units to this much-needed new NHS 24 call centre so that it can immediately start to benefit from significant savings on its energy bills while reducing its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe RHE range delivers up to 88% thermal efficiency<\/a>, meaning the vast majority of heat leaving the building will be retained and used with the incoming fresh air and supplied to the space.\u201d<\/p>\n

The RHE units are supplied with a rotary wheel, EC plug-fans with backward curved Impellers external-rotor motor. They have pre-configured control systems for simplified start-ups.<\/p>\n

In addition, S&P supplied two centrifugal in-line JETLINE 100 ECOWATT fans to further increase ventilation measures.<\/p>\n

We are keen to minimise our carbon footprint so the inclusion of energy-efficient heating was a priority for us in our Dundee centre.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caledonian House was acquired by Shelborn Investments in 2018 and previously fully let to HMRC. It has been refurbished<\/a> over the last three years.<\/p>\n
