{"id":111410,"date":"2022-05-30T12:04:08","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T11:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=111410"},"modified":"2022-11-02T09:56:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T09:56:54","slug":"revised-part-l-regulations-cpd-actis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/revised-part-l-regulations-cpd-actis\/111410\/","title":{"rendered":"Actis to launch new CPD on revised Part L regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">Revised Part L regulations, which are set to come into force in June, are the subject of a new CPD devised by insulation specialist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insulation-actis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Actis<\/a>, which is due to be launched in a few week&#8217;s time<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The new Part L CPD is currently awaiting certification by the Construction CPD Certification Service, and will become the fourth in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/stakeholders\/actis-insulation\/38716\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Actis&#8217;<\/a> series of popular professional CPD certified training programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Other sessions are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/actis-ticks-mandatory-competencies-boxes-riba-cpd-providers-network-event\/110826\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RIBA-approved<\/a> CPD on addressing the performance gap with reflective insulation, a CPD module on building regulation compliance, and a mini training course specifically designed for use at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/actis-construction-industry-insight-labc-technical-events\/110596\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LABC roadshows<\/a> on the new SAP 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">The new CPD,\u00a0<\/span>aimed at architects, specifiers, builders and building control officers, looks at how the revised Part L regulations will impact the industry, and how to ensure professionals meet the targets laid down in the revised Part L regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">New build homes are to see a 31% reduction in carbon emissions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">With new build homes obliged to see carbon emissions reduced by 31% over the current levels after June 15, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/cpd-training\/103917\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Actis CPD<\/a> will explain the importance of focusing on \u2018fabric first&#8217; to help achieve this goal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">There will be a one-year grace period for projects currently going through the planning process.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Focusing on ensuring the fabric of the building is the &#8216;main driver&#8217; of energy efficiency<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Actis UK and Ireland technical director Thomas Wiedmer explained: &#8220;In order to achieve this 31 per cent uplift over current regulations we have to focus on ensuring the fabric of the building is the main driver of energy efficiency. This will need to be combined with more use of efficient building technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">&#8220;Energy efficiency standards should always be based on reducing the need for energy first and in particular limiting the heat loss through thermal elements &#8211; that is through achieving excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/u-value-simulator\/96136\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U-values<\/a>, reducing thermal bridging and improving air tightness &#8211; the fabric first principle.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The new CPD will look in detail at ways to improve U-values, reduce thermal bridging, address the performance gap and improve air tightness while ensuring there are no issues with overheating.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">&#8216;Ensuring insulation is continuous, with no gaps&#8217;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Thomas added: &#8220;Ensuring insulation is continuous, with no gaps, plays a vital role in reducing thermal bridging &#8211;
