{"id":111505,"date":"2022-06-06T13:38:16","date_gmt":"2022-06-06T12:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=111505"},"modified":"2022-06-06T13:38:16","modified_gmt":"2022-06-06T12:38:16","slug":"west-fraser-sterlingosb-zero-wood-new-lifeboat-centre-in-dornoch-esra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/west-fraser-sterlingosb-zero-wood-new-lifeboat-centre-in-dornoch-esra\/111505\/","title":{"rendered":"West Fraser\u2019s SterlingOSB Zero provides vital foundations for new lifeboat centre in Dornoch"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.westfraser.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">West Fraser<\/a>, formerly known as Norbord, has donated <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.westfraser.com\/our-products\/sterlingosb-zero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SterlingOSB Zero<\/a>, made in the company\u2019s Inverness plant, to the team building a new lifeboat centre in Dornoch, Scotland,\u00a0for the <a href=\"https:\/\/esra.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA)<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The panel product was donated to the independent lifeboat charity to create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/caberfloor\/104214\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">flooring<\/a> in the new centre\u2019s upper floor which features a training room, office space and showers for the 16 volunteers to make use of.<\/p>\n<p>The new ESRA lifeboat centre has been created to commemorate the group\u2019s 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of providing vital support for anyone who has found themselves at risk in the neighbouring coastline.<\/p>\n<h3>Sustainable wood product for construction<\/h3>\n<p>Stuart Hendry, general manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/stakeholders\/modular-construction-stakeholders\/west-fraser-wood-based-panel-products\/98121\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">West Fraser<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/plant-equipment-supplies-news\/inverness-plant\/105117\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inverness mill<\/a>, said: &#8220;We are always happy to support great local initiatives in any way we can, so we were thrilled to help ESRA to continue their life-saving duties.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By donating our sustainable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/engineered-wood-panels\/99580\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wood product<\/a> for construction use, we hope that we have been able to play an important part in supporting the work that the volunteer team at the new lifeboat centre carries out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Creation of a new lifeboat centre in Dornoch<\/h3>\n<p>Antony Hope of the volunteer lifeboat charity said: &#8220;We are hugely grateful for this kind donation from the West Fraser team; it provides a massive step forward in the creation of our new lifeboat centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past four decades, ESRA volunteers have been called out to over 400 emergency calls so it\u2019s vital that we have the best possible location for our volunteers to operate from.
