{"id":111650,"date":"2022-06-09T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-09T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=111650"},"modified":"2022-06-09T13:07:42","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T12:07:42","slug":"gmi-construction-build-major-new-tamworth-retail-park-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/gmi-construction-build-major-new-tamworth-retail-park-development\/111650\/","title":{"rendered":"GMI appointed to build new Tamworth retail park development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/gmiconstructiongroup.co.uk\/projects-gmi-construction\/#filter-retail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GMI Construction Group<\/a> PLC has been appointed by Hawkstone Vale Developments Ltd, working with Central England Co-op, to build the new Tamworth retail park development<\/h2>\n<p>The \u00a322m development will be named Tame Retail and Trade Park and is located on the site of the former Co-op supermarket, on Ninian Way.<\/p>\n<p>Demolition works and site preparation is already underway and construction is expected to take 52 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The fully regenerated site is scheduled to be open by March 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Shoppers can expect to see a number of well-known brands and retailers including Lidl, B&amp;M, KFC, Starbucks, Greggs and Subway as well as Travis Perkins upon opening.<\/p>\n<h3>Regeneration of a brand-new trade and retail destination<\/h3>\n<p>GMI divisional managing director Andy Bruce said: &#8220;This significant new development looks set to breathe new life into what was a redundant site and serve as a catalyst for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/building-better-building-beautiful\/59820\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regeneration of the area creating new and substantial local employment and a brand-new trade and retail destination.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to working closely with both Hawkstone and Central England Co-op and seeing the development rise out of the ground which when complete will be one of the Midlands premier retail and trade park destinations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Kirton, managing director of Hawkstone Vale, added: \u201cIt is great to see the work on the development progressing and the new development starting to take shape.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted to have attracted Lidl, B&amp;M and Travis Perkins for the retail and trade element of the Scheme, with Starbucks, Greggs and Subway providing the food and beverage offer.<\/p>\n<h3>80,000 sq ft development will boost local economy and create jobs<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;We are confident this 80,000 sq ft development will help provide a great boost to the local economy and create hundreds of jobs for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/could-community-building-be-the-answer-to-loneliness\/110704\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> local community<\/a> in these uncertain times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;GMI are already making great progress onsite and come with an exceptional pedigree in the delivery of high quality retail and trade park developments of this scale.
