Balfour Beatty has announced that its 50:50 joint venture, Gammon, has been awarded two development contracts in Hong Kong with a combined value of HK $6.1bn<\/h2>\n

The two development contracts include two new government buildings and five residential towers.<\/p>\n

The Kwun Tong Composite Development<\/h3>\n

Gammon will be responsible for the design and construction of a 25-storey building accommodating a new college and other training facilities, as well as a nine-storey building to include community and welfare amenities on behalf of the Architectural Services Department, valued at HK$2.7bn.<\/p>\n

Gammon will utilise offsite, precast methods<\/a>\u00a0as well as its digital solution, known as \u2018STAMP\u2019, for project management, material delivery and installation.<\/p>\n

The development will embrace modern methods of construction<\/h3>\n

Kevin O\u2019Brien, chief executive of Gammon, commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded the design and build contract for Kwun Tong Composite Development project which will provide welcome services for both the government and local community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will embrace modern methods of construction<\/a> throughout, which will allow us to drive improvements in safety, quality, and waste reduction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kwun Tong Composite Development is scheduled for completion in 2026 and at construction peak will employ a direct workforce of approximately 1,400.<\/p>\n

Ho Man Tin Package One development<\/h3>\n

The second development valued at HK$3.4bn, is for the construction of five residential towers on behalf of Great Eagle Group.<\/p>\n

On completion the towers will accommodate 990 new apartments located atop the MTR Ho Man Tin Station – an underground station serving the Kwun Tong Line and Tuen Ma Line.<\/p>\n

To reduce the project\u2019s carbon emissions and fuel consumption, Gammon will deploy the Enertainer \u2013 developed in partnership with AMPD Energy \u2013 an electric-powered battery storage system used as the primary power source for construction machinery on site, reducing the need for diesel generators.<\/p>\n

Implementing industry innovations and technologies<\/h3>\n

Kevin O\u2019Brien added: \u201cWe are delighted that Great Eagle Group has once again selected Gammon to deliver this significant residential development.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur skilled professionals will continue to seek every opportunity to implement both our own and industry innovations and technologies that ultimately result in an improved quality of product for our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ho Man Tin Package One will complete in 2024 and, at peak will employ a workforce of approximately 1,200.<\/p>\n
