{"id":112445,"date":"2022-06-30T14:28:20","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T13:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=112445"},"modified":"2022-06-30T14:28:20","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T13:28:20","slug":"orbit-receives-defence-employer-recognition-scheme-silver-award-from-mod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/orbit-receives-defence-employer-recognition-scheme-silver-award-from-mod\/112445\/","title":{"rendered":"Orbit receives Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award from MoD"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Orbit has received a Silver Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in recognition of their support to the defence and armed forces community, part of their commitment to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/armed-forces-covenant-supporting-information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Armed Forces Covenant<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/defence-employer-recognition-scheme\/defence-employer-recognition-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Defence Employer Recognition Scheme<\/a> encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.<\/p>\n<p>Orbit signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2017, while also supporting reservists with its \u2018time off policy\u2019, enabling colleagues to have time away from the business to carry out any required training without using their allocated annual leave.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/affordable-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordable housing<\/a> provider also demonstrates its commitment to the armed forces through its work with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) who provide job opportunities to ex-armed forces personnel. Orbit works with the CTP by advertising vacancies which match the skill set of those who\u2019ve left the armed forces on their portal.<\/p>\n<h3>Delivering upon social responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p>Paul Richards, Group Director of Customer and Communities at Orbit, said: \u201cWe are proud to be part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and support the defence and armed forces communities who can offer vital skills and support our values as an organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re passionate about building thriving communities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/causeway-construction-talk-podcast-digitalisation-skills\/112107\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supporting people<\/a> to excel in their roles and delivering upon our social responsibilities. People who have served in the armed forces bring a wealth of skills including teamwork, planning and time management, communication, specialist knowledge, problem solving and leadership, which are all qualities we strive for from our colleagues.
