{"id":112896,"date":"2022-07-07T11:56:52","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T10:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=112896"},"modified":"2022-07-07T14:32:01","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T13:32:01","slug":"housing-and-construction-ministers-boris-johnson-resign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/housing-and-construction-ministers-boris-johnson-resign\/112896\/","title":{"rendered":"Housing and construction ministers resign and Michael Gove sacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Housing and construction ministers Stuart Andrew and Lee Rowley are amongst the growing list of government resignations from Boris Johnson&#8217;s precarious cabinet<\/h2>\n<p>The resignations come prior to Johnson&#8217;s sacking of Secretary of State for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/levelling-up-plan\/104957\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Levelling Up,<\/a> Housing and communities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/michael-gove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Gove<\/a>, yesterday evening &#8216;for disloyalty&#8217;, after reports that he told Johnson to quit earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/stuart-andrew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stuart Andrew<\/a> was appointed as housing minister in February 2022, whilst <a href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/4652\/contact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lee Rowley<\/a> was appointed as construction minister since last September.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">With great regret and sadness, I resigned as Minister for Industry this morning. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PYXiLQheQt\">pic.twitter.com\/PYXiLQheQt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lee Rowley (@Lee4NED) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Lee4NED\/status\/1544673713710399489?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 6, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In his letter to Boris Johnson, Andrew stated that his loyalty to Johnson and the conservative party had &#8216;overridden his judgement&#8217;
