This new purpose-built building was planned with BIM<\/h2>\n<p>More than 10,000 cancer patients are treated at Stuttgart Hospital every year. In order to bring together the broad expertise in the various specialist areas surrounding cancer medicine under one roof, the new Stuttgart Cancer Centre (SCC) \u2013 The Eva Mayr-Stihl Tumor Centre is currently being built in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n<p>After its completion (expected in 2024), an oncology day clinic, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and other areas of cancer patient care will work hand-in-hand on one site.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt Pl\u00f6cker Architekten, based in Frankfurt, was responsible for the execution and planning of this special healthcare building, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/bim-news\/allplan-visual-scripting-helps-bim-designers-examples\/109341\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">design planning<\/a> conducted by Sweco. On behalf of the general contractor, Gustav Epple, the BIM method &#8211; OPEN BIM to be precise &#8211; was to be used to deliver the project.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the masterplan for the new Stuttgart Hospital Campus, this new building closes the urban edge at the corner of Kriegsbergstra\u00dfe\/Hegelplatz. Between the second basement and second floor, the brachytherapy and cancer therapy areas as well as oncology day care will be housed. The floors above will house &#8211; with another 50 beds &#8211; the care and functional areas of radiation and nuclear medicine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/bim-news\/allplans-structural-engineering\/84085\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Structurally, the building is a reinforced concrete construction<\/a> with flat ceilings. Some ceilings and walls are made of baryte concrete due to the radiation protection requirements of the design.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-113474\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-300x166.png\" alt=\"building model of new Stuttgart Cancer Centre in ALLPLAN Bimplus\" width=\"751\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-768x425.png 768w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-1024x567.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-696x385.png 696w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-1068x591.png 1068w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-759x420.png 759w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Hospital-Stuttgart_Allplan-1920x1062.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 751px) 100vw, 751px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Building model in Allplan<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to the pure BIM-based design, Schmidt Pl\u00f6cker also took over the overall BIM coordination, the preparation of the client information requirements (CIR) and the BIM execution plan (BEP), as well as the coordination of a model-based digital attribute database for integrating the component information from all specialist consultancies.<\/p>\n<p>The building model was created in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/stakeholders\/allplan-bim-solutions\/35357\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Allplan<\/a>. From this, it was possible to derive all the necessary plans, such as floorplans (ground plan and floor levels) and ceiling levels, or detailed drawings (wall views in the form of sectional derivations, for example). Derivations from the model were also used for detailed planning.<\/p>\n<h3>BIM coordination via Bimplus by ALLPLAN<\/h3>\n<p>The BIM coordination of the project was carried out using the open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/bim-news\/allplan-bimplus\/79145\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BIM platform Bimplus.<\/a> The cloud-based solution was used to connect the external specialist consultancies and their models and to interface with the Prevera database, which was used to generate an integrated technical room book for the transfer of room, door and window information. The exchange of attributes between architectural and technical models or the different programs also ran bidirectionally via the Bimplus platform.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Schmidt Pl\u00f6cker used Bimplus for quality assurance and verification of the model, as well as for documentation to chronicle through revisions of the various specialist models. Communication among the project participants took place via the integrated Issue Manager functionality.
