{"id":113876,"date":"2022-08-02T12:00:03","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T11:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=113876"},"modified":"2022-08-02T13:12:39","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T12:12:39","slug":"capita-sells-real-estate-and-infrastructure-consultancy-businesses-to-wsp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/capita-sells-real-estate-and-infrastructure-consultancy-businesses-to-wsp\/113876\/","title":{"rendered":"Capita sells real estate and infrastructure consultancy businesses to WSP"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capita has agreed to sell two real estate and infrastructure consultancy businesses to WSP for \u00a360m, on a cash-free, debt-free basis<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sale comprises Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure (\u2018REI\u2019) and GL Hearn (\u2018GLH\u2019).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>REI provides specialist advisory, design, engineering, environmental and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/the-2022-state-of-aec-project-management-research-report-is-now-here\/113689\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">project management<\/a> services for land, building and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsp.com\/en-GB\/hubs\/transportation-and-infrastructure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">infrastructure<\/a> owners.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>GLH provides advice to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsp.com\/en-GB\/hubs\/property-and-buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">real estate<\/a> developers, investors and occupiers across areas including planning and development, rating, valuation and occupier services.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capita expects to receive proceeds of c.\u00a369m at completion &#8211; taking into account cash-like and debt-like items.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sale is subject to certain consents<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The senior management teams and employees of REI and GLH will remain with their businesses as ownership is transferred to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/bim-news\/wsp-solibri-bim-technologies\/91112\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WSP.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jon Lewis, Capita\u2019s chief executive officer, said: &#8220;We are pleased to have agreed the sale of these two businesses to WSP following a competitive sale process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It marks another significant step, as we continue to simplify and strengthen Capita, and become a more successful business for the long term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;At the same time, our REI and GLH colleagues and clients will join an established industry organisation with plans to take the businesses onto the next stage of their development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We will continue to execute on our plan at Capita to materially reduce debt through the disposal of non-core businesses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Capita sells several non-core businesses<\/h3>\n<p>Capita previously announced that it would sell a number of non-core businesses to focus on its Capita Public Service and Capita Experience divisions.<\/p>\n<p>The sale of REI and GLH follows the completion of four other sales processes this year: Secure Solutions and Services, AMT Sybex, our two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/stakeholders\/building-defects-insurance\/34428\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Specialty Insurance businesses<\/a>, and Trustmarque.<\/p>\n<h3>REI and GLH combined gross assets were \u00a3124.2m in 2021<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reported revenue and profit before tax of REI and GLH combined for the year to 31 December 2021 were \u00a388.6m and \u00a35.1m respectively.
