The A180 connects the region\u2019s key ports, serves residents and tourists and provides an estimated \u00a32.5b to the local economy\u2019s Seafood Cluster each year.<\/p>\n<h3>The A180 is the main arterial route into North East Lincolnshire, providing access to the Port of Grimsby<\/h3>\n<p>Currently, the three bridges \u2013 the Gilbey Road Flyover, the Alexandra Dock Bridge and the Cleethorpes Road Flyover \u2013 require critical structural repairs.<\/p>\n<p>Further deterioration could cause closure or weight restrictions \u2013 severing Grimsby infrastructure and creating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/digital-technologies-infrastructure-4-0\/108876\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">knock-on effects on the local and national economy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The funding aims to prevent months of disruption and closures for residents, as well as making sure local industries can continue to grow and helping to create more skilled jobs in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Homes England, on behalf of the DLUHC, will assist North East Lincolnshire council to develop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/turley-net-zero-town-centres-decarbonisation\/111460\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plans to revitalise the town centre<\/a>, including for the 129 homes on Garth Lane.<\/p>\n<h3>The funding to repair A180 bridges is part of wider efforts to regenerate Grimsby<\/h3>\n<p>Grimsby was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nelincs.gov.uk\/business-and-investment\/town-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pilot Town Deal area<\/a>, and the government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/grimsby-regeneration-boost\/59925\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has awarded over \u00a34.5m<\/a> through the Pilot and its flagship Towns Fund and Future High Streets programmes to support plans to renew and reshape the town centre.<\/p>\n<p>This includes plans to build 129 new high quality, low carbon homes in the town.<\/p>\n<p>Benj Sykes from energy firm Orsted UK, which operates in the area, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe offshore wind industry in Grimsby relies on the skilled and committed workers who have helped to create a world-leading hub. As the industry grows, we need the government to continue to develop the infrastructure the region needs to thrive, and I\u2019m delighted to see further investment in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Philip Jackson, the leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe key infrastructure investment announced today, as well as our work with Homes England, focused on Garth Lane and wider town centre regeneration, are essential elements of our drive to deliver sustainable local economic growth for our residents, our communities and our businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of State for Levelling up Greg Clark said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work to level up vital towns like Grimsby requires acting on what local people say is important and acting on what local people want &#8211;
