They will cap the tunnels supplying the two nuclear reactors at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/europes-largest-construction-project-hinkley-point-c\/111791\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hinkley Point C <\/a>with cooling water.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FMMS5N6YEAg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The final 5,000 tonne concrete structure was towed out 30 nautical miles into the Channel to meet two floating heavy lift cranes \u201cGulliver\u201d and \u201cRambiz\u201d. The two cranes, with a combined lifting capacity of 7,300 tonnes then worked in tandem to place the cooling-water head structure onto the seabed.<\/p>\n<h3>Britain\u2019s landmark nuclear power station will supply low carbon electricity to 6m homes<\/h3>\n<p>On completion, Hinkley Point C will supply safe, secure, low carbon electricity to around six million homes.<\/p>\n<p>Roger Frost, project director at Balfour Beatty, said: &#8220;This is truly another incredible achievement for everyone at Balfour Beatty.
