{"id":115351,"date":"2022-09-09T15:49:53","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T14:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=115351"},"modified":"2022-09-09T15:49:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T14:49:53","slug":"200m-lg-investment-to-deliver-an-additional-715-build-to-rent-apartments-in-cardiff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/200m-lg-investment-to-deliver-an-additional-715-build-to-rent-apartments-in-cardiff\/115351\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a3200m L&#038;G investment to deliver an additional 715 Build to Rent apartments in Cardiff"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgim.com\/uk\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Legal &amp; General (L&amp;G)<\/a> has invested a further \u00a3200m to deliver 715 Build to Rent apartments in Cardiff, at the former Brains Brewery site in Central Quay<\/h2>\n<p>L&amp;G has announced an investment of \u00a3200m to deliver 715 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/build-to-rent-cover\/96602\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Build to Rent<\/a> apartments in Cardiff, part of a \u00a31bn regeneration project across the city.<\/p>\n<h3>Creating new Build to Rent homes and regenerating the local area<\/h3>\n<p>The \u00a3200m BTR development at Central Quay will consist of a mix of studio 1, 2 and 3 bed units and around 19,500 sq. ft of leisure and retail space.<\/p>\n<p>Onsite facilities will include a concierge, lobby, gym, gardens and terraces.<\/p>\n<p>Central Quay is Legal &amp; General\u2019s third transaction in the last 18 months with Watkin Jones, who will deliver the project in tandem with Rightacres, the landowner.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Pease, chief investment officer at Watkin Jones said: \u201cWe are delighted to be partnering with Legal &amp; General on another development. The projects we are delivering together will create excellent homes, act as a catalyst for regeneration of the surrounding areas and help improve people\u2019s lives. We look forward to bringing our expertise to what is a hugely exciting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/sustainable-regeneration-of-historic-buildings\/111170\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regeneration masterplan.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Upon completion, Legal &amp; General\u2019s investment in Central Square will create space for 13,000 new jobs<\/h3>\n<p>Legal &amp; General uses long-dated UK pension money to invest in UK cities and towns.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a major regeneration project in Cardiff, L&amp;G have committed \u00a31 billion in Real Assets to deliver:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a3285m \u2013 1,033 Build to Rent apartments at Central Quay (715 apartments) &amp; Central Square (318 apartments), Legal &amp; General\u2019s first BTR scheme in the city which opens in March 2023 and forms part of the Central Square regeneration<\/li>\n<li>\u00a3140m \u2013 The Interchange \u2013 120,000 sq ft of Grade A office space at Central Square<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a3117m \u2013 Government Hub delivering 270,000 sq ft of space for more than 4,000 civil servants<\/li>\n<li>\u00a345m \u2013 Parkgate Hotel \u2013 170-bedrooms located next to the Principality Stadium, in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union<\/li>\n<li>\u00a3200m in financing to support Wales &amp; Borders franchise to deliver a new cutting-edge train fleet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tom Roberts, head of strategic investment at LGIM Real Assets, said: \u201cInvesting long-term capital in what society needs has never been more important.
