{"id":115554,"date":"2022-09-14T12:52:59","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T11:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=115554"},"modified":"2022-09-14T12:52:59","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T11:52:59","slug":"speakers-announced-for-5th-world-cement-association-global-conference-in-dubai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/speakers-announced-for-5th-world-cement-association-global-conference-in-dubai\/115554\/","title":{"rendered":"Speakers announced for 5th World Cement Association Global Conference in Dubai"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The <a href=\"https:\/\/avolio.swapcard.com\/wca2022\/registrations\/Start\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Cement Association<\/a> has announced the speakers for its 5th annual Global Conference in Dubai, where the theme is \u2018Navigating the Climate Challenge: Reducing Carbon and Reducing Costs\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The speakers have been revealed for the World Cement Association\u2019s 5th global conference and exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The in-person event will take place at the Emirates Towers, Dubai, UAE from 25th \u2013 28th September 2022 and focus on practical, immediate steps to reduce both the carbon footprint and the costs, based on the regional roadmap developed by WCA\u2019s partner for the conference, A\u00b3&amp;Co.<\/p>\n<h3>The conference will cover a variety of issues facing the cement industry<\/h3>\n<p>The event will include panel discussions, thematic workshops, CEO dialogues, presentations and networking opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The speakers will cover a variety of pressing topics issues faced by the cement industry including: the industry response to climate change, impact of high energy costs, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, new technologies, financing and managing human capital.<\/p>\n<h3>Panellists and Speakers announced for the 5th World Cement Association include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Nigel Topping, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion at COP26, will speak on \u2018The road to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/world-green-building-week-2022-puts-people-at-the-heart-of-a-low-carbon-built-environment\/115398\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COP 27<\/a> &amp; COP 28\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Amr Nader, Co-Founder &amp; CEO, A\u00b3&amp;Co. will be a key speaker on the MENA roadmap and its implications<\/li>\n<li>Roland van Wijnen, CEO of PPC Ltd will be give his views on &#8216;Rethinking cement in a changing world: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/cement-production\/105261\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Decarbonisation as an opportunity<\/a>&#8216;<\/li>\n<li>Suhair Abu Salem, Human Capital &amp; Communication Director at A\u00b3&amp;Co. will be speaking at the workshop on &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/cement-and-concrete\/104693\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reinventing cement talent for a net zero world<\/a>\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Arnaud Pinatel, Managing Partner at On Field Investment Research, will be looking at the topic of the \u2018Outlook for the cement sector worldwide\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Ehab Shalaby, PhD, CEO of DCarbon Egypt will be a panellist discussing &#8216;Steps on the road to net zero: today&#8217;s actions&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Matthias Mersmann, CTO &amp; Member of the Board, KHD Humboldt Wedag will be speaking on the topic of &#8216;Bringing the future cement plant into reality&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Yousra Elsayed, Principal, EBRD will give a policy bank view of the challenges facing the industry<\/li>\n<li>Didier Bourbon, VP Sales Asia for Fives FCB, will talk about various technologies that are available today to reduce carbon and improve profitability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mahendra Singhi, the managing director and CEO of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. will deliver one of the keynote addresses at the Conference on the topic of &#8216;Grey to green &#8211; Reducing carbon for integrated value creation.&#8217; Mahendra is a director of WCA and has been actively promoting both the need for climate action by the cement industry and the business opportunities this can bring.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will provide a unique opportunity for industry stakeholders;
