{"id":116065,"date":"2022-09-27T15:55:14","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T14:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=116065"},"modified":"2022-09-27T15:55:14","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T14:55:14","slug":"jacobs-selected-to-support-infrastructure-renewal-projects-at-national-nuclear-laboratory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/jacobs-selected-to-support-infrastructure-renewal-projects-at-national-nuclear-laboratory\/116065\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacobs selected to support infrastructure renewal projects at National Nuclear Laboratory"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Multiple renewal projects at National Nuclear Laboratory sites will be delivered by Jacobs across the full project lifecycle<\/h2>\n<p>Refurbishment and renewal projects at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnl.co.uk\/innovation-science-and-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Nuclear Laboratory<\/a> sites will be supported by Jacobs as full lifecycle delivery partner.<\/p>\n<p>The nuclear sites, which are operationally independent but Government owned, are located across the North West of England in Cumbria, Preston and Workington.<\/p>\n<h3>The project will support new reactors and decommissioning efforts<\/h3>\n<p>The scope renewal projects at National Nuclear Laboratory sites includes design, build and refurbishment work at the Windscale and Central Laboratories at Sellafield in Cumbria, a specialist analytical services and process chemistry facility in Preston and a test-rig center in Workington.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobs will be responsible for the initial phase project specification, concept, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/leveraging-design-to-achieve-real-world-change\/114925\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">preliminary and detailed design<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/innovation-driven-procurement-the-value-of-good-ideas-and-collaboration-in-the-supply-chain\/115453\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">procurement<\/a> and installation.<\/p>\n<p>The primary \u00a310m contract term is one year, with options for three additional one-year extensions.<\/p>\n<p>NNL\u2019s facilities support new reactor build and existing reactor operations as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/building-specification-embodied-carbon-buildings\/108600\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decommissioning, clean-up and fuel processing plants<\/a>, and handling and inspection services for nuclear material.<\/p>\n<h3>Ensuring that UK nuclear remains competitive and innovative<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis work will help ensure that the U.K.\u2019s advanced nuclear research and development capability remains world-class,\u201d said Jacobs Energy, Security &amp;
