{"id":116307,"date":"2022-09-30T08:25:48","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T07:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=116307"},"modified":"2022-09-30T15:35:54","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T14:35:54","slug":"displaced-talent-scheme-skilled-migrant-pathways-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/displaced-talent-scheme-skilled-migrant-pathways-construction\/116307\/","title":{"rendered":"Displaced talent scheme creates skilled migrant pathways in construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Skilled refugees, also known as Displaced Talent, are finding work in UK construction through safe, legal means, allowing them to rebuild their lives with dignity<\/h2>\n<p>The Displaced Talent scheme from recruitment specialists, Build A Career, will be showcasing some of its achievements at next week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukconstructionweek.com\/uk-construction-week-careers-fair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK Construction Week Birmingham (October 4th-6th)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The recruitment strategy connects skilled refugees residing in hosting countries with job opportunities in the UK<\/h3>\n<p>\u2018Displaced Talent\u2019 are skilled refugees such as architects, engineers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/procore-digital-technology-and-green-skills-sustainable-construction\/111373\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IT professionals<\/a>, administrative, and electricians.<\/p>\n<p>Having been forced to flee their home countries because of persecution, violence, or war, many become stuck in low and middle-income countries where they have no right to work and are locked out of international skilled migration systems.<\/p>\n<p>Build A Career has formed a strategic alliance by engaging governments, refugee-serving organisations and local communities to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/causeway-construction-talk-podcast-digitalisation-skills\/112107\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">enable displaced talent to move for work<\/a>, resume their careers, and rebuild their lives with dignity.<\/p>\n<h3>The Displaced talent project has already successfully placed several construction professionals, such as:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mohammed Daas left Syria to find a better life to support his family, leaving behind his mother and siblings as he is the sole breadwinner of the family. He is an Architect with 8 years of experience and resided in Lebanon where he was working at a very low salary. He successfully relocated to the UK and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/architecture-apprenticeships\/103656\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joined an Architectural practice<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Moayyad Ghanem, who is Palestinian and currently resides in Jordan, has recently successfully secured a job opportunity as a Senior Site Engineer with seven years\u2019 experience and will be relocating to the UK with his wife and daughter towards the end of this year<\/li>\n<li>Nariman Alkaddour, who is bilingual and holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in Business Administration, joined Build A Career\u2019s own team as the Displaced Talent Ambassador;
