{"id":116866,"date":"2022-10-18T11:32:02","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T10:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=116866"},"modified":"2023-05-02T19:42:57","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T18:42:57","slug":"community-centres-affordable-homes-brent-willmott-dixon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/community-centres-affordable-homes-brent-willmott-dixon\/116866\/","title":{"rendered":"Affordable homes in Brent to be delivered by Willmott Dixon"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Willmott Dixon has been selected by the London Borough of Brent to build 55 affordable homes in Brent, as well as two community centres<\/h2>\n<p>Willmott Dixon will deliver two new community centres alongside 55 affordable homes in Brent under contracts worth a combined \u00a330m.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon was procured on both contracts via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/scape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SCAPE Construction framework<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The Learie Constantine Community Centre project will provide 26 apartments<\/h3>\n<p>The \u00a313.6m Learie Constantine Community Centre project, which demolish the existing building to create 26 new homes made up of one, two and three-bedroom apartments as well the new home for the Centre.<\/p>\n<h3>29 affordable homes in Brent will be created at the Brent Indian Centre Project<\/h3>\n<p>The larger of the two contracts, the Brent Indian Centre project will also see the demolition of an existing building to create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/tracking-the-progress-of-the-levelling-up-regeneration-bill\/113590\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new community facilities<\/a> and affordable homes in Brent.<\/p>\n<p>The current building\u2019s occupants, the Brent Indian Community, will move into the new development, which will include a large multi-purpose hall, commercial kitchen, offices and an IT training room.<\/p>\n<h3>Delivering sustainability and affordability in the local community<\/h3>\n<p>Cllr Knight, cabinet member for housing, homelessness and renters security, said: \u201cWe are looking forward to working with Willmott Dixon. Our partnership will help to deliver<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/greener-better-faster-modulars-role-in-solving-the-housing-crisis\/116769\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> high quality and affordable home<\/a>s for Brent residents, creating a fairer and more equal society for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris Tredget, managing director at Willmott Dixon\u2019s London and East business, said: \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to being a part of the community during our time in the borough and once completed, the new centres and homes will provide fantastic facilities for local residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark Robinson, group chief executive at SCAPE, said: \u201cSCAPE is committed to ensuring every one of our projects provides a strong, sustainable legacy within the local community.
