{"id":116881,"date":"2022-10-18T12:51:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T11:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=116881"},"modified":"2022-10-18T12:51:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T11:51:00","slug":"rsk-group-boosts-sustainability-agenda-two-new-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/rsk-group-boosts-sustainability-agenda-two-new-appointments\/116881\/","title":{"rendered":"RSK Group boosts sustainability agenda with two new appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/rskgroup.com\/responsibility-and-sustainability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RSK Group<\/a> has bolstered its sustainability agenda with two new board appointments, chief scientist Lucy Thomas and chief sustainability officer Stephanie Wray<\/h2>\n<p>RSK Group has appointed two new directors to its board, chief scientist Lucy Thomas and chief sustainability officer Stephanie Wray.<\/p>\n<h3>Stephanie has 30 years of experience in environmental consultancy<\/h3>\n<p>Stephanie joined RSK when in 2019 as part of the Biocensus acquisition and more recently led the formation of Nature Positive, a management consultancy that helps businesses address <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/what-do-government-plans-for-biodiversity-net-gain-mean-for-developers\/115372\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">climate change and biodiversity loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As chief sustainability officer, she will ensure RSK continues to put <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/sustainability-in-construction-how-buildings-are-becoming-more-eco-friendly\/115809\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sustainability at the heart of the business<\/a>. Stephanie has 30 years\u2019 experience in environmental consultancy and holds a PhD in ecology and an MBA specialising in corporate strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to work with the RSK Board to shape this new role as Chief Sustainability Officer. This role correctly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/sustainability-in-construction-how-buildings-are-becoming-more-eco-friendly\/115809\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">emphasises sustainability<\/a> as one of RSK&#8217;s central guiding principles and I look forward to working across the whole RSK Group to ensure we as a business, and our clients, are \u2018doing the right thing&#8217; for the planet and for people.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Lucy Thomas has led teams across the RSK Group for 18 years and as chief scientist for five years<\/h3>\n<p>Lucy Thomas is managing director of RSK Uganda, RSK Tanzania and RSK South Africa- along with a more recent role as the managing director of the Centre for Sustainability Excellence in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>A strong advocate for technical excellence, Lucy co-ordinates RSK\u2019s Heads of Profession programme, encouraging more colleagues to pursue chartered status, or the equivalent in their specialism.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy has a technical background in risk-based remediation and has honed her knowledge around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/social-value-and-net-zero-construction-industry\/112113\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carbon and social value<\/a>, becoming a powerful voice for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/public-sector-net-zero-decarbonisation\/112873\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decarbonisation of RSK<\/a> as a global business.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cI\u2019m excited to join the board and play an instrumental role in shaping the future of our group at what is a crucial time for businesses globally. Businesses are key to the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and my role as Chief Scientist supports the realisation of the UN SDGs as we continue to champion talent in all our regions and advocate for change.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>RSK Group recognises that sustainability is an ever-evolving process<\/h3>\n<p>RSK Group CEO Alan Ryder said: \u201cLucy and Steph have, of course, been making their mark on RSK\u2019s sustainability agenda for some time.
