{"id":117877,"date":"2022-11-02T10:51:35","date_gmt":"2022-11-02T10:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=117877"},"modified":"2022-11-02T10:51:50","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T10:51:50","slug":"hs2-workforce-rises-nearly-30000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/hs2-workforce-rises-nearly-30000\/117877\/","title":{"rendered":"HS2 workforce rises to nearly 30,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The latest update shows that the HS2 workforce has gained more than 2,300 people to its ranks, bringing the total number to just under 30,000<\/h2>\n<p>The HS2 workforce now numbers 30,000, across 350 sites from the southeast to the northwest.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"XaqFWAZXGes\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HS2 Project Update, October 2022\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XaqFWAZXGes?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The \u2018orange army\u2019 is undertaking many tasks, including building HS2\u2019s stations, viaducts, bridges and embankments.<\/p>\n<h3>Recent achievements include the launch of the first two giant tunnelling machines under London<\/h3>\n<p>The first tunnelling breakthrough at Long Itchington in Warwickshire, the appointment of the Interchange Station construction partner, and the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/plant-equipment-supplies-news\/second-hs2-giant-tunnel-boring-machine-under-london-begins-journey\/117743\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first two giant tunnelling machines in London<\/a>, are just some of the construction highlights that have fueled workforce growth since the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Thurston, CEO at HS2 Ltd said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHS2 is delivering growth for the UK economy today.
