{"id":118594,"date":"2022-11-18T16:18:43","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T16:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=118594"},"modified":"2022-11-18T16:18:43","modified_gmt":"2022-11-18T16:18:43","slug":"company-and-director-sentenced-after-fatal-skylight-fall-killed-dad-of-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/company-and-director-sentenced-after-fatal-skylight-fall-killed-dad-of-two\/118594\/","title":{"rendered":"Company and director sentenced after fatal skylight fall killed dad-of-two"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Father-of-two Jonathan May, 39, was working on a damaged warehouse roof in Barnsley when he suffered a fatal fall through a skylight<\/h2>\n<p>A Wakefield roofing company has been fined and its sole director given a suspended prison sentence after a dad-of-two suffered a fatal 12-metre fall through a skylight.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan May, from Horbury, Wakefield, was a subcontractor for Davis Industrial Roofing Limited.<\/p>\n<p>He was working on a storm-damaged warehouse roof at F&amp;G Commercials Limited, Carlton Industrial Estate in Barnsley with two others on 18 December 2016, when he fell.<\/p>\n<p>The work involved the replacement of more than 300 skylights on a fragile asbestos cement roof. The skylights had been damaged in a hailstorm.<\/p>\n<h3>The company and director failed to take sufficient precautionary measures onsite<\/h3>\n<p>An investigation by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/toolbox\/height.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Health &amp;
