Galliford Try<\/a> has boosted its Environment business through the acquisition of Ham Baker’s asset inspection, maintenance and screens and distributor operations<\/h2>\n

Galliford Try has announced the acquisition of Ham Baker\u2019s asset inspection, maintenance and screens and distributor operations.<\/p>\n

The acquisition brings complementary capabilities to Galliford Try\u2019s growing Environment business, and will give it a further advantage in preparing for the water industry\u2019s AMP8 cycle, in particular addressing storm overflow challenges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The water sector provides an opportunity for Galliford Try to deliver on its sustainability goals<\/h3>\n

The acquired business produces a variety of engineered products for the water industry, which Galliford Try will use as a basis to develop a low carbon engineering<\/a> offering, enabling products and raw materials to be as reused as possible, and reducing waste.<\/p>\n

Galliford Try acquiring Ham Baker’s assets reflects the key role the Environment business is playing in Galliford Try\u2019s Sustainable Growth Strategy, which targets organic growth and acquisition opportunities in existing and adjacent sectors.<\/p>\n

The acquisition brings with it a team of circa 40 who will continue to operate from the business\u2019 current premises in Stoke.<\/p>\n

Kroll <\/a>completed the sale of two businesses within the Ham Baker Group<\/h3>\n

The combined sales have preserved 50 jobs.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Saunders, managing director, Kroll, said: \u201cI am pleased to have been able to agree the sales and to ensure specialist engineering skills in the region are protected.\u00a0 These transactions secure the future of a large part of the Group with such a longstanding heritage, professional workforce and reputation in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ham Baker acquisition follows a period of expansion for Galliford Try’s environmental team<\/h3>\n

Bill Hocking, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: \u201cWe are delighted with this acquisition which bolsters our position as a leading service provider to the water sector, with a growing capability in off-site build, capital maintenance and asset optimisation<\/a>, following the acquisitions of nmcn water, Lintott and MCS Control Systems in the last 18 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe evolution of our business means we are uniquely positioned to help our clients deliver the UK\u2019s water needs through the improved resilience, efficiency and optimisation of their assets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recent developments in Galliford Try’s water sector offerings<\/a> include securing two spots on the Welsh Water capital maintenance framework and securing another two spots on Northumbrian Water\u2019s Chemical Dosing framework. This follows the \u00a31m acquisition of nmcn water and Lintott in October 2021.<\/p>\n
