Specialist offsite manufacturer M-AR is celebrating 15 years of business as it continues to champion offsite solutions to the wider construction industry

M-AR, which still has its roots in Hull, where it was set up in December 2007, describes itself as a ‘contractor with a factory’ – an offsite approach which enables it to offer a full turnkey service and solutions to clients from design to completion.

From an initial team of three, it has grown rapidly. It now employs 100 members, with a team of subcontractors and an extensive supply chain network to support M-AR’s projects in the residential, commercial and education sectors at sites across the UK.

Challenging preconceptions about offsite construction

Today M-AR is a £30m turnover company with a dedicated 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which can build at a rate of 400 modules per year. Such is the demand that having moved into this factory just over a year ago, the team is already looking at expanding the site to increase production capacity and keep pace with its forecasted growth.

One of M-AR’s key drivers has always been challenging preconceptions about MMC and offsite solutions to bring the process into the mainstream. M-AR is always looking for ways to innovate and improve, not inwardly for the sole benefit of its own clients, but also looking at the bigger picture to highlight best practice to benefit the wider industry too.

Demand grows as the company embarks on its five-year plan

Ryan Geldard, director at M-AR, commented: “Like any anniversary, this milestone gives us the perfect chance to pause and reflect as we reset ourselves for the future.

“We’re in the midst of our busiest period to date and this looks set to continue with demand growing steadily as we embark on our own ambitious five-year growth plan. But we’re managing this growth sustainably to make sure we can still do what we do best for our clients. Our goal is unchanged: to be a company people want to work for and with.

“We’ve never been afraid to do things differently here at M-AR and I’m proud that our talented team, including our supply chain partners and clients, all continue to challenge accepted norms every day. We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has played their part in our journey so far as we set our sights firmly ahead to the next 15 years.”

M-AR kick-started its anniversary celebrations with a special Christmas party where it also held its inaugural ReM-ARkable Awards to recognise the achievements of its staff and raised over £950 for the Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University charity.
