environment at Wates Group.<\/p>\n<p>Ballard joins the team after eleven years at Willmott Dixon as group environment director, where he led the environment team on legal assurance, environmental protection and promotion of environmental improvements.<\/p>\n<h3>Mark Ballad brings an extensive environmental career to Wates<\/h3>\n<p>With over 14 years of experience in in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/production-line-water-sector\/100691\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">water management<\/a> and team leadership, Mark Ballard has experience of delivering on waste, water, and carbon reduction, as well as strategic stakeholder and supply chain engagement.<\/p>\n<p>This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/bim-news\/the-water-sector\/104617\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">water, waste and environmental management<\/a> across several frameworks with suppliers and developing and establishing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/big-data\/how-data-delivers-a-greener-cleaner-built-environment\/119255\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pioneering carbon reductions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ballad&#8217;s other past roles have been at companies such as Green Ventures and twelve years at Anglian Water, as well as<span class=\"mr1 t-bold\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0ongoing roles as governor (chair of audit committee) at <\/span><\/span><span class=\"t-14 t-normal\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\">Inspire Education Group and board director at CL:AIRE.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The new head of environment at Wates will help deliver:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Zero waste from Wates operations by 2025:\u00a0Wates aims to reduce and then eliminate the production of all waste created from on-site operations.<\/li>\n<li>Zero carbon from Wates operations and operational vehicles by 2025:\u00a0Wates aims to reduce carbon emissions from Scope 1 and 2 operations and to become carbon neutral.<\/li>\n<li>Positive impact on nature from all operations:\u00a0Wates aims to enhance the natural environment wherever it operates and to increase the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/social-value-and-net-zero-construction-industry\/112113\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">value and community benefit of natural
