{"id":120289,"date":"2023-01-27T16:46:52","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T16:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=120289"},"modified":"2023-01-27T16:51:01","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T16:51:01","slug":"ciob-launches-new-corporate-plan-outlining-priorities-over-next-five-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/ciob-launches-new-corporate-plan-outlining-priorities-over-next-five-years\/120289\/","title":{"rendered":"CIOB launches new Corporate Plan outlining priorities over next five years"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciob.org\/institute-governance\/corporate-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)<\/a> has debuted a new five-year Corporate Plan, outlining a focus on sustainability, safety and skills<\/h2>\n<p>The Chartered Institute of Building&#8217;s (CIOB) new Corporate Plan focuses on quality and safety, environmental sustainability and closing the construction industry\u2019s skills gap.<\/p>\n<p>Laying out the company&#8217;s roadmap from 2023 to 2028, the CIOB Corporate Plan aims to elevate the standard of professionalism in construction management across the industry.<\/p>\n<h3>Trustees and CIOB members from across the globe were involved in shaping the Corporate Plan<\/h3>\n<p>Caroline Gumble, CEO at CIOB, said: \u201cTo me this is much more than a simple document. It is the roadmap for the journey CIOB will take over the next five years and beyond, in leading the way to make positive change for the creators of our built environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my ambition that this plan drives delivery on what we all want from this important industry: high standards of quality and safety, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/big-data\/why-closing-the-data-gap-is-key-to-sustainable-construction\/120320\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">improvements in sustainability<\/a>, and closing the skills gap.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the home for built environment professionals, CIOB must support our members in making that possible. It was incredibly important to me that members had input as, in many ways, it is our members who will bring this document to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Key themes of the plan include:<\/h3>\n<h4>Environmental Sustainability<\/h4>\n<p>Designing, creating, maintaining and recycling to deliver a built environment that society can live with, use and enjoy are instrumental in delivering a net zero future.<\/p>\n<p>CIOB will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Equip CIOB members (individual and company) with the knowledge and skills to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/building-for-a-better-tomorrow-how-can-the-sector-deliver-a-sustainable-built-environment\/114855\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">manage and deliver the construction process<\/a> in environmentally sustainable ways.<\/li>\n<li>Embed environmental sustainability into relevant learning programmes across schools, colleges and universities.<\/li>\n<li>Support industry and stakeholders in building the case for change through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/artificial-intelligence\/visual-intelligence-built-environment\/107412\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">environmentally sustainable activities and metrics<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Quality and Safety<\/h4>\n<p>The safety of the built environment should be so fundamental that it can be taken for granted, but recent years have shown that this isn\u2019t always the case.<\/p>\n<p>Good quality buildings and infrastructure promote health, safety and wellbeing, as well as delivering social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits.<\/p>\n<p>CIOB aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring about a culture change in the industry that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/how-will-the-new-fire-safety-england-regulations-improve-fire-safety-compliance\/120409\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ensures quality and building safety<\/a> are\u00a0 never sacrificed for profit.<\/li>\n<li>Become the leading provider of education, training and standards in quality and building safety in the built environment, globally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Skills Gap<\/h4>\n<p>Most worldwide construction markets are reporting a skilled labour shortage.
