The second phase of the Terminal Transformation project at Manchester Airport will be delivered by Mace<\/a>, expanding the capacity of Terminal 2<\/h2>\n

Mace has been appointed by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) to manage the second phase of the \u00a31.3bn Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MANTP), continuing the expansion of Terminal 2.<\/p>\n

The programme is expected to complete in 2024, with the new facilities opening in 2025.<\/p>\n

Under the plans, Terminal 2 will double in size<\/h3>\n

Representing a \u00a3440m investment, the phase two works will see the remainder of Terminal 2 modernised, and a second pier built. Mace will oversee project management and construction delivery<\/a> in the redevelopment and creation of additional contact served aircraft stands.<\/p>\n

Mace brings extensive experience managing the delivery of major aviation projects and programmes, most recently at Keflavik Airport in Iceland and Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

\u201cHelping to deliver on our vision for growth, our experienced project and programme consultants will bring their extensive aviation expertise and regional knowledge to apply fresh thinking to our approach. In turn, we aim to continue supporting the aviation sector\u2019s path to recovery post-pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Manchester Airport terminal transformation will also significantly boost the local economy<\/h3>\n

Mace and its supply chain partners will create over 500 new jobs. In comparison, an independent analysis commissioned by Manchester Airport shows around 16,400 extra jobs will be generated by 2040 as a result of the expansion of the airport and its route network.<\/p>\n

The same research \u2013 by York Aviation \u2013 reveals the economic contribution Manchester Airport makes to the Northern economy will soar by \u00a32.75bn as a result of the full delivery of its transformation programme, with a further potential \u00a32.9bn to be made from increased businesses travelling and trading globally<\/a> through Manchester.<\/p>\n

The scheme will deliver social value through apprenticeships and fundraising for local charities<\/h3>\n

Mace and its supply chain partners will engage over 1,500 young people across Greater Manchester, aim to raise \u00a370,000 for local charities and donate at least 500 hours of employee volunteering time.<\/p>\n

It has been established that at least 5% of the workforce should be apprentices<\/a> for the project duration.<\/p>\n

During the build phase, over \u00a375m will be contributed to the local area through wider business operations, regional supply chains<\/a> and tourism recovery beyond the pandemic, with over \u00a31.3m in social value<\/a> already created to date.<\/p>\n

Paul Willis, chief development officer, Manchester Airport Group, added: \u201cThe second phase of the Manchester Airport Transformation Programme represents the concluding chapter of the most ambitious expansion project in the history of the airport, and in turn signifies a huge milestone for our city, the North and also the wider recovery of the travel industry.<\/p>\n
